Christmas Time is Here!!!

The time flow so fast! It's almost Christmas already. And I'm really thankful for that this Christmas, I finally got myself a pen tablet which I've been wanting for a long time.

So, for this year Christmas illustration, I used it. In case the Mayans are right about the world end, I post it now.

The world may end, but for me, Christmas is an occasion I can't miss.
Merry Christmas all, be a good kid so that Santa will visit.

Special for Adel

Today is my friend, Adeline birthday. I promised her to draw her one illustration as her birthday present. I wish to finish it before 24.00, 6 December and send the illustration to her as a birthday surprise. But I couldn't make it and it's just finish now.

Cute isn't it? I tried to do it my best to made it as soft and as romantic as I can to suit her taste.
So, Happy Birthday Adel, I hope you find that special someone soon.

I don't mind people use or upload my illustrations in any other sites, but please mention this blog and give some credit for me  ^_^

7th attempt

My friend recommend HJ Story to me. She said I'll absolutely love the cuteness of the character.
Aaaannd she's right. I LOVE it! It's really cute and  got this fluffy and warm feeling inside when I see them. Hopefully, I can make art like that soon.

And also, the artist behind HJ Story is a guy! He made HJ Story for his girlfriend (now wife) because he said he's not good with words. He sends the cute illustrations he made everyday to his girlfriend cellphone to express his feeling to her. How SWEET is that? I wish someday I'll find a guy who's willing to do something like that for me. Not particularly send arts which he made by himself to me everyday, but a guy who really care for me.  Love can be shown with many ways, and HJ Story show his love by illustration (I'll do that too if I finally found the right guy)

So, overload with the cuteneness, it made me want to draw.
I hope I can make the people who see my work feel the warm feeling like what I feel when I saw HJ Story.

I don't mind if people use my work in any other site, but please mention this blog and give credit to me.

5th attempt

Wacom, 5th attempt
My friend asked me to draw something cute. Since the season now is rain, I made this.

I remember watching XXXHOLIC, there's a character, I already forgot what's her name in Japanese, but the meaning of her name is Rain Child in English.
Inspired by that, I made my version of Rain Child.

4th attempt

my fourth attempt with wacom.
I got inspired by Kerli's "Saima (Journey to the fairy land)".

A magical and beautiful melody. Really bring my mind to the fairy land

Bye Summer!

I live in a tropical country, the irony is, I really don't like the heat !
Sure we're blessed with beautiful nature, pretty beaches,  tasty foods, delicious exotic fruits and many else, but I really can't stand the heat!

Also, Christmas is approaching, I can't tell how jealous I am to those who can experience white Christmas, snuggle in a blanket in front of the fire place while drinking hot chocolate or egg nog. Going outside to play with the snow and making snowman.

I loooveee my country, but for once in a lifetime, I want to experience white christmas.

Well, there's no snow, but at least it's finally rain season, it's a little bit cooler.
I love rain, some people feel gloomy with the dark sky and the cold weather, for me, it's a blessing from above.

So, for a while, goodbye summer! I don't really like you but at least, there are fun things to do in summer. With this illustration, I bid summer goodbye!

Angels

I always want to do an illustrated story book.
My biggest dream is to have my book which is written and illustrated by me being published. So, before my dream really come true, I think I could use some practice.

I've been thinking about a love story between a human boy and an angel girl for a while, but I'm having trouble in picking the character. Here's the angel character drew in 2 different style.

Chara 1 : Same style but different coloring. I used soft pastel to colored the first one. It's quite hard, but I think it came out really nice. The colour is really soft.

Chara 2 : Really different from the first style. It's alot like manga. But I think this one is nice too.

Happy Halloween 2

I can't sleep, so I made another halloween themed illustration.
Again, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Happy Halloween!

Hello, it's been a while since the last update. Well, what can I say, I was busy with my internship and I didn't have the time to draw anything that doesn't related to my job.

Anyway, my internship has ended, which relieved me but I also a bit sad because I'm already used to the work environment and I really like it there.
Thank you so much for all the people there, they really helped me alot for those three months. I think I really improved my skill.
And also, thank you for my mentor who gave me a good review.

Now, I have to write the report but I'm too lazy to do it right away. So, I think I want to rest a bit and draw just for fun.

Tomorrow is halloween, in my country we don't really celebrate halloween, but hey, that doesn't mean I can't do works that related to halloween right?
So here it is, happy halloween everybody!

I'm practicing

I want to improve my realist drawing skill, so my friend lend me some books and he suggested me to practice according to that book.

Here is a sketch I made after some practice from those books :

I think I do get better. But I still have a loooonggg way to go.
FIGHTING!

Hairstyle for me?

Since my sister wedding's over, I'm thinking about cutting my hair.
But I still considering what style do I really want.
Should I cut it short? keep it long with different style? Or cut it medium length?

Whatever, I'm a tomboy....

My sister got married recently. For her wedding, as her younger sister, me too have dress up according to the theme the bride chose.

I have to get ready at 7 o'clock in the morning (my sleeping time) and I have to change my dress twice, one for the church, and one for the reception.

At the church, I just change into a more formal short  dress and only powdered my face and wear lipgloss for the make up. But for the reception, I have to wear a long dress with full make up on my face.
It wasn't comfortable for me because I'm not used with make up. The stylist make me wear fake eyelashes and it was really uncomfortable.
When she applied the mascara, my eye got teary.

Not only that, My dress add more problem for me.
I keep stepping on my own dress and almost fall several times, also, I wore high heels which didn't make it easier to walk. To make it worst, I didn't wear my glasses, so with my bad eyesight and my long dress, and the heavy make up, and the high heels
It was a TORTURE  for meee!!!

After the reception is over, I quickly wear my glasses again, wear my jacket over my strapless dress, and take of my shoes. It felt reaaallly greaaattt!

Well, I think my make up was really pretty and all, I even have a tiara on my head. But, no matter what, I just can't stand it!

Our day out

The day before I watched The Expendables with my dad, I hang out with my friends. I seldom got a weekend like that, I got to watch a good movie with my dad, and hang around with my friends all in one week. That was really fun!

The Expendables 2

2 weeks ago, I went to watch the Expendables with my dad. And it was AWESOMEEE!

Chuck Norris, Jason Statham, Sylvester Stallone, and many mooorrreeee!!!
But I'm really dissapointed with Jet Li being replaced with some skinny lady. Jet Li is my favourite action star of all time!

But it's still AWESOMEEEE!!!

Sleepy me

I love sleeping.
So much that I want to start a campaign : "Sleeping for world peace"

When people are sleeping, they can't start a war. Because well, they're sleeping!

But with my internship now, I have to wake up early and go to work.
I often yawn at work.
Although I like my job, but I can't wait 'till it's end. I'll sleep as much as I want!

Indomie

In my country there's an instant noodle product called Indomie.
Indomie has been Indonesian's favourite food since like forever. It's cheap, quick and delicious. Many college students rely on indomie when they broke.

But, I found out that this product has been imported to other countries. And what impress me is the fact that people from other countries love indomie too.

There's even a guy who made a video about how much he loves indomie and upload it to youtube watch it :

here

Well... I love indomie too

My favourite candies

I freakin love sweets, especially candies.
There are so many types of candy and I love most of all, but of course, I have my favourites.

 Gulali Jakarta and grandma's hair

One of my favourites. Red and green colored candy stick to a skewer, it's Jakarta traditional candy. They usually sold as street food, but this day, we can see them being sold at the supermarket.
Still, I like to buy it from the seller on the street instead.
The seller usually ride a bicycle and attach a box on the backside of the bicycle to keep the candy dough. One more benefit if we buy it from the traditional seller, we can ask the seller to mold the candy as we wish.
There are so many cute shapes like rooster, heart, flower or baby pacifier. They're really fun!

The other one is Rambut Nenek (Grandma's hair).
This sweets resembles cotton candy but with rough texture just like hair (that's how it got the name).
It usually served between two crispy chips just like sandwich.

Plum Candies

Plum candy is candy from China. It's a transparent candy with a red plum inside the candy
The candy taste is sweet and little bit salty and sour beacuse of the red plum inside.

my type of guy

Recently, I talked to my friend about my ideal type.
I said that my type is a bad boy with sharp eyes and proud attitude. A little bit of arrogance is good too. Make the guy even sexier.

My friend said that I have a strange taste, but there are many girls who like bad boy right?

I remember someone said that a boy dream of a good girl who's naughty only to him and a girl dream of a bad boy who's good only to her.

Totally AGREE!

Happy birthday once again

Sooooo I made a little mistake on my previous work, the one that I made for my best friend's birthday, Abon.
I wrote that her birthday is on the 27th august instead of 26th which is her real birthday. To make it up, I drew another illustration to wish her happy birthday.

Sorry my friend

Stray Cat

Recently there's a stray cat who stay in my house.
My family do pity her, but after we lost our dog, we don't want to keep a pet anymore.

After our attempt to keep  the stray cat away (and we failed), my dad's driver finally took the cat with him.
Bye bye stray cat, I wish you well.

My Hair

I've been wanting to get a haircut lately. But my mom said to wait until my sister's wedding so the hairdresser could do my hair more creatively.

Well, what can I say?
Anyway, even  though I still want a haircut,  I  think it's a pity to cut it. I spent 2,5 years to grew it and now my hair has reached my waist.
So? What should I do?
Should I cut it short or should I let it grow until I become just like Rapunzel?

Happy B'day Abon

Yesterday was my best friend's birthday. The truth is, I want to post this yesterday, but I was so sick that I don't have the strenght to lift my pencil to draw.

Anyway, Happy belated birthday my friend!

My Favourite songs

I've been listening to Koda Kumi's songs recently.

The first Kumi's song I've ever heard is Real Emotion. It's the soundtrack of Final Fantasy X-2.
After that, I've listened to many of her songs which made me a fan of hers.

Currently, my favourite songs are "Feel" and "Lies".

"Feel" is a ballad song with soothing and sexy melody, while "Lies" got more beat.
Otherwise, both songs are awesome!

I got the flu

Apart from got to eat in a expensive, all you can eat restaurant and finally got some days off from my internship, I'm not feeling really well this week.

I oftten sneeze, my nose is watery and my throat a little bit sore.
Yeah, I got the flu...

Tomorrow I need to get back to work. So, wish me well

FOOD!

Last Monday, my dad took me and my mom to a restaurant in a hotel.
It turned out that his friend from other city came to visit and he treat us all .
It's an all you can eat restaurant, so, I'm not ashamed to confess it, but I went a little out of control

Dream

A couple days ago I dreamt about being in an art exhibition. Pretty normal dream I guess... (I expect to go to Narnia in my dream, but noooo, I went to a normal, non magic, non futuristic art exhibition). Don't get me wrong, it's not like I hate exhibition, but, come on, it's a dream. I want to meet Aslan at least, or go to Mr Wonka's chocolate factory.

But I'm pretty glad. In my dream, I saw a beautiful painting. A painting of a lady holding a smoke pipe in her hand. She looked a little sad, but she's beautiful, from her get up, I guess she's a geisha.

When I woke up, I don't want to forget that painting so, I tried to 'reproduce' it, orrrr bring it to live? made it? Well, afterall it's my dream, so... I guess I'm the painter? Illustrator? creator?
Okay! Whatever. Here's the illustration from my dream :

I guess I'm failed.
The composition is right, but this illustration is not really resemble the one I saw in my dream. The colors are too dark compared to the real one (in my dream) and I can't remember the shape of the ornaments behind the lady.

Still, I spent 5 hours to did this with water color. The small parts were killing me! So I want to post it in this blog

The Butterfly Lovers

It's been a while since the last time I updated my blog.
Currently, I'm working as an intern at a publishing company.
I have to wake up early (not really my life style) and go to work. When I got home, I feel so tired that I don't have the energy to draw anything.

It's a non-paid job because I do it  to fulfill the condition my university set to graduate. But I'm pretty lucky to get a job that I like and fit me (I work as an illustrator at a children magazine) also, I get more knowledge from the people at work.

Since today is Sunday, I spent my spare time with drawing this illustration.

There's a story from China which resemble the story of Romeo and Juliet, It's called The Butterfly Lovers. It's a love story of Zhu Yingtai and Liang Shanbo. Here's the story from wikipedia :

Zhu Yingtai is a beautiful and intelligent young woman, the ninth child and only daughter of the wealthy Zhu family of Shangyu, Zhejiang. Although traditions of that era discourage females from going to school, Zhu manages to convince her father to allow her to attend classes in disguise as a young man. During her journey to Hangzhou, she meets Liang Shanbo, a scholar from Kuaiji (present-day Shaoxing). They chat and feel a strong affinity for each other at their first meeting. Hence, they gather some soil as incense and take an oath of fraternity in the pavilion of a thatched bridge.
They study together for the next three years in school and Zhu gradually falls in love with Liang. Although Liang equals Zhu in their studies, he is still a bookworm and fails to notice the feminine characteristics exhibited by his classmate.
One day, Zhu receives a letter from her father, asking her to return home as soon as possible. Zhu has no choice but to pack her belongings immediately and bid Liang farewell. However, in her heart, she has already confessed her love for Liang and is determined to be with him for all eternity. Before her departure, she reveals her true identity to the headmaster's wife and requests her to hand over a jade pendant to Liang as a betrothal gift.
Liang accompanies his "sworn brother" for 18 miles to see her off. During the journey, Zhu hints to Liang that she is actually a woman. For example, she compares them to a pair of mandarin ducks (a symbol of lovers in Chinese culture), but Liang does not catch her hints and does not even have the slightest suspicion that his companion is a woman in disguise. Zhu finally comes up with an idea and tells Liang that she will act as a matchmaker for him and his "sister". Before they part, Zhu reminds Liang to visit her residence later so he can propose to marry her "sister." Liang and Zhu reluctantly part ways at the Changting pavilion.
Months later, when Liang visits Zhu, he discovers that she is actually a woman. They are devoted to and passionate about each other and they make a vow of "till death do us part". The joy of their reunion is short-lived as Zhu's parents have already arranged for her to marry a man from a rich family called Ma Wencai. Liang is heartbroken when he hears the news and his health gradually deteriorates until he becomes critically ill. He dies in office later as a county magistrate.
On the day of Ma and Zhu's marriage, mysterious whirlwinds prevent the wedding procession from escorting the bride beyond Liang's grave, which lies along the journey. Zhu leaves the procession to pay her respects to Liang. She descends in bitter despair and begs for the grave to open up. Suddenly, the grave opens with a clap of thunder. Without further hesitation, Zhu throws herself into the grave to join Liang. Their spirits turn into a pair of beautiful butterflies and emerge from the grave. They fly away together as a pair of butterflies and are never to be separated again.

I don't really like a sad ending. So, to make it less sad, I drew the scene after their death. They get together and live happily ever after in the kingdom of heaven

Wishlist book

I made this wishlist book for my friend's little sister.
She was about to celebrate her 17th birthday, and ask me where she can find or make a wishlist, so, I offered to make it for her as a gift.

I was invited to her birthday party and luckily, she likes it!

Front cover, I really suffered when I made the little roses for the dress

Same with the front cover, I use little roses which I made with double origami paper to cover the dress

For the mirror, I use the metallic inside of fox candy packaging.

I covered the stiletto with glitters

Memento page with an envelope to put mementos from the party such as invitation or photos

The opened envelope, resemble a heart shape

I made 2 layers back cover. The inside has the picture of the birthday girl waving as  thanks for her friends who has came to the party, the outer layer has the picture of a window which can be opened and closed. So, if the book is closed, on the back side, there's a girl who's waving from the window.

It's all wrapped and ready!
